Career path
Marcos began his career in the early 2000s as a translator and interpreter for institutions such as SEBRAE (Brazil's small-business support agency), SENAI (the national industrial training service), FIERN (the Rio Grande do Norte industry federation), the Natal Convention Center, the Brazilian Air Force and the British Embassy — while completing his BA in Languages (Portuguese/English) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU).
In 2011 he completed his Postgraduate Specialization in Translation at Universidade Gama Filho (UGF) and interpreted for World Bank missions in Brazil, a relationship that has remained active ever since. In the same period he began a long-standing editorial relationship with Editora Árvore da Vida: translating books into English and French, proofreading press proofs and, since 2016, coordinating the simultaneous interpreting team (English/Spanish) for the publisher's international conferences.
In conference interpreting, his booth has served events held by international organizations and specialized agencies of the United Nations, the military cooperation between the Brazilian Army and the U.S. Army, an international defense conference (2019), medical and scientific congresses and international judicial training — a track record of 80 assignments documented in photographs.
Today, with a Postgraduate Specialization in Translation (UGF) and credentials on the KUDO Pro and Interprefy platforms, he divides his time between the on-site booth and remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI), alongside technical, legal, medical and editorial written translation.
